No Friends

Why is Dana all alone? No friends, No friends.
Why is Dana all alone, because she has no friends, no friends!

But actually, she just needed to charge her laptop.

They'll Tell the Story of Tonight

I hope you're ready for this

Everything is Blue in the Future

SpongeBob: Well, he's not here. I'll bet that eager-beaver's already down at Jellyfish Fields.

Squidward: A-ha! They're finally gone! [tries to open freezer but it's locked from the inside!] What the...? Locked?! Oh no! Oh, well, someone will realize I'm gone and come looking for me. I'll be out of here in no time.

After the long slumber that was winter break, Brown students awoke to something magical: a renovated Ratty! The walls are blue, the pizza is actually good, there are two salad lines, and literally everything has been moved around. We can barely believe our eyes.

The changes are certainly impressive, although the necessity of them are debatable. While those of us here today can bask in the glory of these renovations, we realize that our graduated and abroad friends might wish to see the changes, so here is a photo summary:

The drink machines have been slightly relocated, and take on a more linear formation compared to the previous jutting-out-of-the-wall.

A brand new pizza station, complete with 3 fancy new pizza ovens. Sometimes they serve garlic knots! This is located near the back cave, where the drink station used to be.

The salad bar has been shifted to the left, where the Trash Zone™ used to be. Also there are two identical salad bars for improved speed.

A fancy dessert station, where the condiments used to be! The ice cream has finally achieved the accessibility it deserves.

"Bougie Water Corner" - Hayley

Not pictured: The Trash Zone has moved to the South West corner of the ratty.

A political hot potato…

When Hayley started her frierarchy, many thought that the only debate would be over Hayley's (alleged) terrible taste in fries. However, a controversy has quickly developed centered around whether or not tater tots are fries, with Hayley putting them at #2 in the frierarchy not just as a bold statement on the essential inferiority of most fry types but as a genuine assertion of tater tots' status as a kind of fry. A twitter poll is ongoing, and appalled band parents are phoning in their dismay. But more on that later.

As a senior, I have to write blog posts, but I also don't have much to contribute. The easiest way to distinguish between me and Kyle today is volume of social media output (I actually took Kyle's seat on a Skype call and no one noticed for some time, but that's what you get for trusting your lying eyes). The best part of this challenge is definitely infinite free beverages, particularly Orange Guava Passionfruit, because who would ever buy that? Kyle has a bowl of tater tots right next to Gaby with her bowl of pomegranate seeds, but it's probably too late for Kyle anyway.

Update: Timm has voted yes on the twitter poll, and Greer came back with "It's such an earth-shattering moment when you realize your mother can be wrong." Truly, tensions are high.

Hourly Update

The video chatting sessions have begun! Check out the post below for our e-guests, but here are some photo updates of those here in the flesh:

Gaby, Dana, Charlie, and Greer in the viewing section. (The downside of pushing ratty tables together is the surplus of chairs)

Gaby, Greer, Charlie, and Dana summoned Satan (the King of 666) in Pitch.

After a brief rest, Zack has returned!

Presenting: Ratty Challenge Google Hangouts 2017

Round 1: The "Early Morning Crew" featuring Amy Andrews and her "Delaware Rocks" mug, Zach Woessner who is in Copenhagen, and Abby Muller with a stuffed Appa

A summary of my morning thus far:
I filled out one answer in the saturday crossword
I napped for about an hour
I struggled to eat a pomegranate
I struggled to spell pomegranate
I seized control of the @RattyChallenge twitter
I pretended to appreciate the buzzfeed articles daniel keeps showing me (literally why do I care)
I had a staring contest with Dusky

So far, I am far ahead of my usual saturday morning productivity, proving that the ratty is in fact good for at least one thing. We all know that thing isn't usually food, which is why I came prepared with 2 packs of Ramen. But also shoutout to Kyle for swiping me in, if nothing else I am enjoying the ambience.

It's like sitting in a corner cafe with friends. They should have staged Friends in the Ratty if you really want to know what I think. It would add a classy industrial vibe. Part of its charm is in the sticky tables and bitter coffee.

As long as I'm sharing opinions about things, here's one: the frierarchy is a sham. Fries have more in common than that which makes them different. I would extend that to most potato-based foods. This is arbitrary and founded on false assumptions about culinary decision-making.

ok I think I will go take another nap.
