Act I, Scene V: Stick to the Status Quo

Wh .. what’s … what’s HAPPENING?!?!?!

WHY IS EVERYONE STANDING ON TABLES? NOW THEY ARE SINGING?

Heh heh a-saw dude

I’m scared. Help me.

Now they are all revealing things about themselves. This is either the song Stick to the Status Quo from High School Musical, Fratty at the Ratty, or a secret attempt to start a flash mob that will allow us to steal a table from the Rattie [sic]. Zeke can bake crème brûlée!?!?! I wonder what other secret abilities people are holding within.

Which brings us to our question of the hour … What’s your secret ability that you would have revealed in the status quo song?

Zack: When I was in elementary school I hit my growth spurt early and so I was really good at basketball because I would just stand under the hoop and shoot layups all the time.
Isabela: I have the iconic 2007 Magic Bullet infomercial memorized. (It’s the personal, versatile, countertop magician!!) http://www.infomercial-hell.com/magic-bullet/ I also led a cult in the 3rd grade; we worshipped a stress ball. We had a regular newsletter and raised funds (rock dust currency and mulch).
Kellan: I would love to know how to juggle.
SamFA: Taking shots out of an apple (foreshadowing)
Sean: I’m superhero Billy from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy who shoots yogurt from his armpits.
Mark: I would simply tell everyone, “How dare you.”
Tim: I share my gifts with the world.
Caroline: I can sing Katy Perry’s Firework in Latin.
Charles: AP Economics...apparently.
Christie: People in high school were surprised that I could rap. But only to “96,000” from In The Heights.
Gaby: I can burp the alphabet. And anything else really.
Shane: I can telepathically communicate with dogs.
Tracy: Oh I got one: I feel like my secret abilities are exactly what you would think my secret abilities are. I once took a humanities class and also I once took a math class I didn’t like.

No, dude, it's like a giant violin!

Act I, Scene IV: What I've Been Looking For (Reprise)

She has her own challenge to complete...

Act I, Scene III: What I’ve Been Looking For

It’s hard to believe what you couldn’t see: That Sharpay is the true hero of the High School Musical trilogy.

https://www.buzzfeed.com/jenniferabidor/this-sharpay-theory-will-change-everything-you-thought-you

When Sharpay says, “There are a lot of supporting roles in the show,” this is the most misinterpreted line in the entire musical. Really, she wants people to be involved in the show, but she justifiably expected to have the lead. She was the PRESIDENT of the Drama Club! She deserved better than for some basketball player to outshine her! She was robbed. You can’t change my mind.

They actually rule the school and we love it.

Act I, Scene II: Get'cha Head in the Game

Basketball, basketball, we love basketball. It’s the best game that we play every day. It’s my bouncy ball. It’s your bouncy ball. It’s my bouncy ball. Pretty little basketball.

Before the big practice, we decided to CARB UP with the BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS, which consists of chocolate chip pancakes and tater tots according to Gabriela Usabal ‘19.

Malachi is here wow! He's our shiniest Axelrod and also perfect.

My head’s in the game, but my heart’s in the breakfast. Which brings us to our question of the hour …

What is the best breakfast food?
Zack: Challah French toast
Isabela: chocolate chip pancakes
Kellan: French Toast
SamFA: Eggs
Sean: Macaroni and Cheese
Mark: Not Physics
Tim: Eggs are just so versatile
Caroline: Pancakes
Charles: Bagel
Christie: All of them
Malachi: Cereal (Honey Bunches of Oats)
Gaby: French toast but it’s Portuguese sweet bread
Shane: Pancakes
Natalie: “So my favorite breakfast food is the grabowla from Andrews. However, that’s my favorite food in the moment. But like, afterwards my intestines usually are not happy with me. This can be published, it’s fine. And so the best breakfast food for the after-effects: scrambled eggs with hot sauce. With like peppers and onions in them. Because that gives me consistent energy throughout the whole day because, like, protein. Um but yeah, grabowla if I take a nap afterwards so I feel less of the intestinal damage slash pain. This makes up for the fact that I’m not actually staying here.”
Tracy: I don’t believe in the segregation of food into breakfast and non-breakfast foods.

Natalie after eating grabowla.

P.S. We figured out how to purge ourselves of Spongebob.

Act I, Scene I: The Start of Something New

Picture this: It's New Years. You're skiing and have had enough of your parents. Of course, you are expecting to meet the love of your life while singing karaoke and somehow being an excellent singer despite no experience.

But Sharpay is ready to show that she is better than these amateur karaoke singers. Will Sharpay be able to stay in the Ratty for 12 hours straight? Welcome, folks, to the Sharpay Refectory Challenge 2019!

We got to the Ratty this morning at 7:30am in the morning, and most of us were on time (key word most). So some of us will be doing a Ratty challenge minus 10 minutes. Rip.

The people who were actually on time!

Thank you to Vicky for swiping us in!

Thank you also to Homer for doing the thing!

Also also thank you to Laurel for also the swipe!

Tracy was first!

But how do we get rid of all of the Spongebob stuff?

Saturday, January 28, 2017

We did it! Ten seniors, twelve hours, and one debt to society later. We'd like to thank the Academy, our friends, family, guest swipe donors, e-guests, and the Ratty staff for an amazing day in our favorite dining hall.

Thanks to all our friends for skyping in! Sid, Cooper, Brooke, Adam, Lewie, Matt G., Elaine, Brian Brown, John, Ben, Zach, Shannon, Zoe, Abby, and Amy!

Here are some final thoughts from today's Senior Ratty Challenge Champions.

Hayley: "We gained a lot of seniors but we lost a lot of freshmen."
Charlie: "We did the thing"
Isabella: "The new blue walls does not make the Ratty more calming"
Kyle: "Blogging is my life. What will I do tomorrow??"
Gabe: "Why am I still eating"
Caleb: "Ratty challengers of all class years, unite!"
Peter: "Board Games were the MVP"
Daniel: " Heroes are born, legends are made. There are heroes, and there's legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die. Follow your heart, kid, you'l never go wrong."
Lainie: "Times flies when you're having fun. LOL JK."
Sarah: "I miss my Kitchen. Cheers to the Governor"

Brown Band Seniors 2017 out!

We're Coming Down to it Now

[roughly paraphrased from Miracle]

Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here tonight, Band seniors. That's what you've earned here tonight. Twelve hours. If we stayed in the Ratty ten times, it might get the best of us nine. But not this time. Not tonight. Tonight, we bear with it. Tonight, we stick with it. And we last the whole 12 hours because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest Brown Band class in the world. You were born to be Ratty Challengers. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great team of Ratty challengers the Soviets—er, the other Band class years had. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and last 19 more minutes*.
