Something happened here

Act II, Scene V: I Don't Dance

Exhibit A: Ryan and Chad wearing some clothes.

Okay. We’re going to address the number one more important part of this song and it’s the fact that it’s gay:

This gif sounds like the start of any Chad/Ryan fanfiction.

“But if I did,” Chad breathed. “What’d you have me do?”
Ryan closed his eyes, drawing in a sharp breath. After living so long in his sister’s shadow, he finally had the opportunity to take control.
“I know you’ve been living in Sharpay’s shadow, but I’ve only ever had eyes for you,” Chad muttered, interrupting Ryan’s thoughts.
“Are eyes the only thing you’ve had for me?” questioned the fedora-wearing blond.

Exhibit B: Post-song, Chad is sitting with his arms around Ryan as they are now wearing each other’s clothes.

Chad stepped off the baseball diamond “post-song”, wearing Ryan’s signature paperboy hat and crisp, white polo shirt.
A smug grin spread across Ryan’s face. “And you said you don’t dance, huh?” he quipped.
“Hey batter batter, hey batter batter swing.”

Clearly there is no heterosexual explanation for this. We in the Band know that we all are queer, queer, queer and here is some fun textual evidence from the Band’s gay days in the 80s. The 1880s.

Act II, Scene II: Fabulous

I asked people the following question:

“In the song ‘Fabulous,’ Sharpay Evans (as portrayed by Ashley Tisdale), sings poolside about a number of things she considers to be ‘fabulous.’ What would you consider to be ‘fabulous?’”

Note: This is not a representative sample, and thus we cannot establish causation from these results.
